Summer 2020
I'm originally from Long Island New York, a place I feel has a special weird place in my heart. Growing up on the Island gave me a broad view of cultural appreciation. You could still grab the access to the inner city life being surrounded by the sounds of the ocean. I was taught some of my first steps on beaches there. Long Island really made me who I am today, I've become more appreciative of it now that I've moved away to Connecticut. The connections I made growing up molded me into appreciating the aspect of a bond of growing up with others who were so culturally different but fit so well together as a family by looking out for each other, stays a blessing in disguise surrounding my childhood. On playgrounds & buildings years later, you will find our hand writing, I like to see it as a permanent mark in history. You know who you are . We were young and stupid and made the best of all of it. I had friends all over Long Island, growing up in West Babylon, Long Island is known for its bagels, beaches, bakeries, pizza, seafood & chinese/italian food, in my eyes being an East Coast girl I haven't really felt anywhere else to compare. Most of my family still resides on the Island today, I enjoyed taking these photographs while visiting them to form this dedication to the very early years of my life. These photos are available for print, photobook, and other materials. Thank you - Victoria
